Report: Spurs surprised by deadline day bid they received for ‘fantastic’ player
Tottenham Hotspur were left surprised at being offered the chance to sell Dele Alli to Everton permanently as the midfielder completed a move on deadline day, .
It had appeared that it may be a frustrating day for Dele. He had fallen out of favour at Tottenham under Antonio Conte. However, it was claimed that Spurs were yet to receive a formal bid for the 25-year-old.

Harry Redknapp had said earlier in the day that he would love to see Frank Lampard sign Dele. At that stage, Lampard was about to be announced as the new Everton manager.
However, there looked to one major hurdle standing between the Toffees and a potential move for the Tottenham man. They were about to sign Donny van de Beek on loan.

And with that, Everton would not have the space for another Premier League loan. However, there was clearly a way around that particular issue.
Dele became one of the last players to move on deadline day, with Everton agreeing a deal that could ultimately cost them £40 million. , they will pay the first £10 million once he plays 20 times for his new club.
Interestingly, that Tottenham were left surprised to have the chance to offload Dele to Everton permanently. But all parties are said to be happy with the deal.
Tottenham and Everton appear to have negotiated Dele deal that makes perfect sense for all
Unfortunately, Dele’s time at Tottenham appeared to be up for some time. It looked to be ominous that Conte had become the latest manager to seemingly lose faith in him.
However, the deal looks to make perfect sense for all. Spurs can surely expect to receive at least £10 million. And if he is a success, they could subsequently get substantially more.
Everton meanwhile, have a player with a lot of potential. He was labelled ‘‘ by Ian Wright earlier this season. And if he gets anywhere near his best on Merseyside, a £40 million deal could look like something of a bargain.
