Spurs are one of the sides in the running to sign Matthias Ginter, that Bayern Munich and Real Madrid also want the centre-back.
Ginter’s future is going to need addressing at some stage in the near future. His contract with Borussia Monchengladbach expires next summer.

It was reported back in May that Tottenham had made a bid for Ginter. Obviously, no move for the Germany international would take place over the summer.
But plenty of fans lauded Ginter after his display against France at Euro 2020. And it seems that those working behind the scenes also remain admirers.

Spurs want the 27-year-old. But Bayern, Real and Inter Milan all want him, too.
Signing Ginter on free transfer could be inspired deal for Spurs
Ginter may perhaps be a player that does not receive universal acclaim. He does not seem to be considered one of the elite defenders in European football.
However, he has been superb for Monchengladbach for some time. And on a free transfer, it is clearly a no-brainer for Spurs.
The calibre of the sides chasing his signature tells its own story. Bayern, Real and Inter could attract almost any player in world football.
So it would be a real coup for Tottenham if they could win the race.
Nuno Espirito Santo is yet to get a chance to pick between all of his centre-back options.
Cristian Romero was a marquee signing. Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier and Joe Rodon meanwhile, need to prove that they can help take Tottenham back up the table.
So there are places to fill. And bringing Ginter in on a free transfer would see Spurs improve their options considerably.
