Report: Spurs planning move for 23-year-old who’s been compared to Raul, Paratici a big fan

Spurs are reportedly looking to make a move for Nicolas Gonzalez, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Things finally seem to be heading in the right direction at Tottenham Hotspur.

The north Londoners are seemingly closing in on a new manager as well as a new backroom addition.

Multiple reports suggest Spurs are set to appoint Paulo Fonseca as Jose Mourinho’s replacement.

Likewise, Tottenham are apparently on the verge of landing former Juventus director Fabio Paratici.

Now, Romano claims that Spurs are mulling over a potential move for the Stuttgart and Argentina attacker.

Tottenham could have competition for Gonzalez’s signature, however.

Romano Fiorentina have made a bid for the 23-year-old and Brighton are also eyeing the player.

Who is Nicolas Gonzalez?

The 1998-born attacker came through the ranks at Argentinos Juniors.

He moved to Stuttgart in the summer of 2018 for a reported £7.7m fee.

Gonzalez has made 79 competitive appearances for his club, registering 23 goals and 10 assists.

He sadly spent most of last season injured, but still managed eight goal contributions from 15 Bundesliga games.

Gonzalez has also won five caps for Argentina, scoring twice.

Comparisons with a legendary Spanish striker

The official Bundesliga website the Stuttgart forward to Real Madrid and Spain icon Raul last year.

“Stuttgart’s No.22 doesn’t just share a surname with Raul,” they wrote.

“The Argentine has the pace, finesse, intelligent movement and classy left foot that enabled the Spain, Real Madrid and Schalke legend to plunder 429 goals in 1018 competitive appearances for club and country.”

Meanwhile, Alfredo Berti – Gonzalez’s former coach at Argentinos – said the player reminded him of 1978 World Cup champion Mario Kempes.

Gonzalez is a high-calibre forward who has won plenty of acclaim and plaudits.

His versatility, pace, intelligence, eye for goal and great attitude would make him a great shout for Spurs.
