Report: Spurs interested in Bayern defender Jerome Boateng

According to , Spurs could make a move for experienced Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng this summer.

Jose Mourinho is a known admirer of the 32-year-old World Cup winner, who has previously had a spell in England with Manchester City when he was a youngster. Since then, Boateng has gone on to be a revelation with Bayern, winning countless trophies, including a World Cup with Germany back in 2014.

But reports that Boateng will not be renewing his contract in Munich, leaving him open to a move away. And it seems that Spurs, along with a host of other European clubs, will make Boateng a priority target.

Spurs boss Mourinho is known to be wanting a defender to add to his ranks this summer. The likes of Davinson Sanchez have failed to impress, while Eric Dier and Toby Alderweireld have suffered indifferent patches of form.

Boateng, 32, could well prove a fine option for Spurs on a free, if, of course, they can fund his contract.

TBR View: You can’t buy experience, Boateng would be great for Spurs

Jose Mourinho loves having winners in his team and Jerome Boateng is certainly that. His time at Bayern has been laden with trophies and you don’t win a World Cup without being a class act.

On a free, there won’t be many better available this summer for Spurs. Boateng brings quality, experience, and that crucial winning mentality to the cause.

If they can get the deal done, then Boateng would certainly solve a long-term problem for Mourinho and save the club a few quid in the market in the process.
