Report: Spurs talent with ‘real spark’ in line for more first-team minutes next season

Tottenham Hotspur gem Alfie Devine is likely to get more first-team minutes for Spurs next term, according to .

The 16-year-old midfielder joined Tottenham’s academy in the summer, claiming the Latics earned a fee in the region of £300,000 for the sale.

An FA Youth Cup quarter-finalist with Wigan in 2019-20, briefly playing against Spurs U18s in the fourth round, the England Under-16 international was previously on Liverpool’s books.

Jamie Carragher, whose son James plays for Wigan’s academy and came through the ranks like Devine, the youngster as “top class” and was “gutted” the Latics didn’t keep him.

Devine has already become the club’s youngest ever player – making his debut in the FA Cup – and youngest goalscorer.

And reports that, since he’s too young to go out on loan, he’s likely to get more first-team game time at Spurs next season.

Devine has shown he’s a cut above at age level for Tottenham and it’s not surprising to see him getting first-team minutes and breaking records.

“Every time he’s come up [to first-team training] he’s looked a real spark,” Japhet Tanganga told the earlier this year.

Obviously Devine is still very young and has a long way to go before he can become a first-team regular, but it’s great to see how well he’s done so far and how much potential he’s got.
