Report: Spurs could sell Ryan Sessegnon; he’s among seven who may leave

Spurs will consider selling Ryan Sessegnon this summer, with the club placing him among seven players who could be on the chopping block.

That is according to T, who claim Sessegnon is among a number of players Jose Mourinho could be willing to sell to fund a reshaping of his squad this summer.

Other names on the list come as little surprise. The likes of Dele Alli, Serge Aurier, and Erik Lamela are among those mentioned in the reports, while Harry Winks is another who could be sold.

But it is Sessegnon’s inclusion which catches the eye. The former Fulham man is still only 20 and has been enjoying a good spell over in Germany this season to gain experience. Further, Mourinho has the left-sided star as ‘absolutely fantastic’.

Sessegnon arrived at Spurs just a few months before Mauricio Pochettino departed the club in November 2019. Spurs paid a £25m for the youngster, but since then, he has failed to really lay down a marker in North London.

TBR View: Sessegnon needs a chance but is too good to wait around

There’s no doubt that, in time, Sessegnon could become a regular for Spurs and a key player. The problem he has is he’s now 20, so needs to be getting in and around the first-team soon.

Sergio Reguilon has pretty much tied down the left-back slot, while in attack, Spurs also have plenty of options including the irreplaceable Heung-Min Son.

So, you can see why Spurs may look to sell if they can get their money back. But you also feel a great sense of what might have been for Sessegnon when it comes to his time with Spurs.
