Report: Spurs could let ‘phenomenal’ player leave after Chelsea game, he’s started their last 4 matches

Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga has been linked a loan move away from Spurs this month.

The 22-year-old was one of Tottenham’s success stories during the difficult 2019-20 campaign.

He made his first-team breakthrough at Spurs that season and looked like he could become a future regular.

However, Tanganga has suffered from several injuries since, restricting his game time at Tottenham.

That said, Antonio Conte has given him a decent amount of minutes since he took the Spurs reins.

Meanwhile, AC Milan appear to be eyeing Tanganga as they look to strengthen amid a defensive crisis.

However, BBC Sport acknowledges that Tottenham’s continued interest in Adama Traore is likely to mean fewer first-team opportunities for Tanganga.

In August 2021, a Tottenham coach told : “He has the assets to be a phenomenal right-back.

“With a bit of work on how he can produce in the final third more — improving his crossing and passing — he could become one of the best right-backs in the league.”
