Report: Spurs and Liverpool to watch Ugurcan Cakir this weekend

that Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are both planning to scout Ugurcan Cakir when Trabzonspor face Besiktas this weekend.

Cakir has been in excellent form this season. Trabzonspor’s defensive record in the Turkish top flight has only been bettered by Galatasaray so far, with the side conceding 21 goals in 21 games.

Interestingly, the 23-year-old has kept just four clean sheets along the way. Nevertheless, it has been suggested that he is attracting a lot of attention.

that Spurs and Liverpool will be amongst the sides to send scouts to watch the Turkey international this weekend. Lazio are also reportedly planning to watch the game.

The league leaders travel to Besiktas with the opportunity to potentially open up a four point lead at the top of the table.

TBR View – Spurs may need Cakir more than Liverpool

It is arguably surprising to see Tottenham or Liverpool look at potential goalkeeper options. Alisson continues to prove the yardstick in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Hugo Lloris has done well since returning from injury.

And it is surely fair to say that both clubs have very good understudies in their ranks. Adrian has rarely let the Reds down when called upon, while Paulo Gazzaniga has produced some colossal performances when given a chance.

With Lloris coming in for criticism before he sustained his injury earlier this season, it could be argued that it is an issue that Tottenham probably have more concerns about than Liverpool right now.

Cakir looks to be a promising talent. He is still improving and learning his game. So it will be very interesting to see whether Spurs or Liverpool decide to take a gamble on him in the future.
