Report: Sporting want club-record fee for Liverpool and Man City-linked Nuno Mendes
Both Liverpool and Manchester City will have to cough up the big bucks if they wish to sign Sporting Lisbon starlet, Nuno Mendes, according t.
Both of the Premier League giants have been linked with a move for the 18-year-old Mendes in recent times. City’s interest has ramped up in recent weeks, with Pep Guardiola said to be a big fan of the youngster.
However, the latest from suggests that Lisbon are looking for a fee of more than £50m for Mendes, a figure which would eclipse what Manchester United paid for Bruno Fernandes a few windows back.

City and Liverpool have both watched Mendes. The claimed just a few weeks back that the pair, along with Manchester United, had been tracking the youngster for a while.
But it seems whoever wants the exciting left-back will need to splash the cash. There were hopes Lisbon may accept far less than Mendes’ reported £63m release clause, however, it seems the Portuguese giants will now demand the maximum.
TBR View: One of the best talents in Europe but an awful lot of money
It’s hard to see Liverpool being able to spend that sort of money this summer, to be honest. They also have Andy Robertson firmly in place at left-back and haven’t even played Kostas Tsimikas really.
For City, Mendes is a more realistic option. The club are said to be looking at moving Benjamin Mendy on. That could open the door for Mendes’ arrival.
The youngster is certainly a major talent and on the surface of things, looks like he will only get better and better.
