Report: Southampton set to sign machine who scored more than Danny Ings last season
Adam Armstrong looks set to move from Blackburn Rovers to Southampton after a fee was agreed between both parties,
The striker will cost the Saints £15 million, with boss Ralph Hasenhuttl moving quickly to replace Danny Ings who has joined Aston Villa.
Armstrong has been one of the Championships most feared marksmen in recent times. Last season he scored 29 times for Rovers as they briefly flirted with the play-offs.
Now, he looks set to return to the Premier League where has 15 appearances to his name from his time with Newcastle.

The Magpies are also set to benefit from this deal. Blackburn will need to pay 40% of the transfer fee to Newcastle as part of a sell-on clause in the previous transfer.
Losing Armstrong will be a big blow to Rovers. It will, however, be a decent addition for Southampton who have moved quickly to replace Ings.
At 24, the striker is at a nice age to continue developing and his style of play is not too dissimilar to that of Ings’.
The former Saints talisman joined Villa last week and he scored 13 goals for Hasenhuttl’s team during 2020/21.
At 29 and with just a year left on his existing deal, offloading him looks like a shrewd move by Southampton.
Armstrong could thrive at Southampton
Given that his style isn’t too dissimilar to that on Ings, it seems as though Armstrong will prove a decent addition.
Of course, at this stage, the jury is somewhat out over whether or not he can score goals regularly on the Premier League stage.

At £15 million though, he’s certainly worth taking a risk on. Armstrong is quick, runs the channels well and comes alive in the penalty area.
Southampton will hope to can hit the ground running, but the Saints might be getting themselves a real gem.
