Report: Southampton reject third Leeds bid for Che Adams
Leeds United have suffered a further setback in their pursuit of Southampton striker Che Adams, that an offer that could have involved a £20 million summer move has been rejected.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side continue to look for a new striker. The promotion-chasers lost Eddie Nketiah at the start of the window. And Patrick Bamford remains their one senior forward.

And it appears that the top flight side have sent out a big statement after Leeds came calling for a third time.
The Yorkshire Evening Post reports that Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men have rejected a bid that would have seen Adams move to Elland Road for the rest of the season on loan before completing a £20 million if Leeds secure promotion.

As the Yorkshire Evening Post notes, Leeds are restricted in what they can do this month by the Profit and Sustainability regulations.
So Leeds’s next move will obviously depend on how much breathing space they have in regards to those rules.
Perhaps, the Whites may be tempted to increase what they offer as a loan fee. Or they could look at agreeing to an obligation to buy in the summer regardless of how the rest of the season plays out.
That is still a risk. But many Leeds fans are not expecting players like Kalvin Phillips to stick around if they fail to go up. So his potential exit may leave them with funds to play with should they miss out on promotion.
Of course, Leeds may decide that they have offered enough.
They certainly need to sign another striker before the window shuts. But off the back of the latest reports, it appears that Adams is unlikely to be the man to fill the void.
