The report suggested that Leeds had offered to take Adams on loan for the rest of the season and would pay £20 million in the summer to make the move permanent should they seal promotion.

that Southampton had snubbed the offer.

And it appears that the offer may have come as a surprise to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men.

that the Saints have been left bemused by Leeds’s attempts to sign the striker. They have made it clear to the Championship high-flyers that he is not leaving.

The Echo adds that Adams is happy at St Mary’s. So it would arguably be a big surprise if Leeds decided to return with a fourth offer.

TBR View – Leeds need to move on

Adams would have arguably been a fantastic signing for the Whites this month. But it appears that there is next to no chance of a deal unless perhaps Leeds throw caution to the wind and offer to sign him permanently this month.

Given the Profit and Sustainability regulations, that arguably looks unlikely. So it is surely time for Leeds to move on.

The deadline is starting to loom on the horizon. And Leeds cannot afford to let the window close without signing a replacement for Eddie Nketiah.

Southampton’s bemusement at this stage suggests that any further offers will receive the same response as the first three.
