Report: Southampton and West Ham set to make Matty Cash bids

Southampton and West Ham United are set to make bids for Matty Cash, that Sheffield United have had a £10 million bid for the Nottingham Forest star rejected.

Sabri Lamouchi’s men endured a nightmare end to this past season. But there were a number of players within his squad who can reflect positively on their contributions throughout a campaign where they should have at least secured a play-off spot and even flirted with the automatic-promotion places.

Cash was one of those who certainly stood out. The 22-year-old was outstanding at right-back, making 42 league appearances. He scored three goals and provided five assists in the Championship.

Unfortunately for Forest fans however, The Telegraph has claimed that it is looking inevitable that he will leave the City Ground with a number of Premier League sides monitoring his situation.

that the Blades have had an eight-figure bid rejected. However, it has been suggested that Chris Wilder’s men are expected to return with a fresh offer, and they are set to be joined by West Ham and the Saints.

The Telegraph adds that Forest are looking for a fee worth up to £15 million.

TBR View: Cash could prove an inspired buy at £15m

Cash has been excellent since establishing himself at right-back. And while neither West Ham or Southampton seem short of options in that position – should the latter manage to keep Kyle Walker-Peters – it seems fair to say that he could still prove an inspired signing for £15 million.

He is still developing and perfecting his game. But he also offers a lot of versatility after breaking through at Forest as a midfielder.

It would be a surprise therefore, if the likes of Ralph Hasenhuttl and David Moyes were not tempted to meet his asking price in the coming weeks.
