Report: Some Arsenal insiders still feel regret over 23-year-old player who Arteta decided to sell

Some inside Arsenal feel regret about how the Gunners career of central midfielder Matteo Guendouzi played out.

Guendouzi spent last season on loan at Marseille and made his loan move to the Ligue 1 side permanent during the summer.

He is back in north London this week for a clash against Arsenal’s bitterest rivals Tottenham in the Champions League group stage.

And the have produced a report on the 23-year-old’s Gunners exit and his subsequent development in France.

Arsenal insiders have Guendouzi regret

They say that the feisty midfielder was never going to be a good fit for Mikel Arteta’s regime at the Emirates Stadium.

We saw in the Amazon Prime documentary that Arteta is huge on togetherness and everybody has to be pulling in the same direction.

Guendouzi is more of a maverick, although some Arsenal insiders have regret that it did not work out for him at the club.

That is an indication of his talent and he will hope to show it this midweek when Marseille get their Champions League campaign underway.

William Saliba used his Marseille loan to push into Arsenal’s side this season, while Nuno Tavares is now currently with the French outfit.

There were apparently questions over Guendouzi’s attitude at Arsenal and that is ultimately why he ended up leaving in a decision Arteta will hope he does not live to regret.
