Report: Sheffield United convinced Arsenal will drop Folarin Balogun asking price

Sheffield United are convinced that Arsenal will have to consider dropping their asking price for Folarin Balogun after having a bid for the striker rejected, .

that the Blades had offered £3 million plus add-ons for the 19-year-old. It was suggested that Arsenal snubbed the bid, holding out for a package worth £15 million.

It remains to be seen if Chris Wilder’s men decide to return with an improved offer.

But perhaps it should not be a surprise if it is not the last time Balogun is linked with Bramall Lane.

that the Blades have been monitoring the teenager for more than a year. And they are seemingly hopeful that there could still be scope for an agreement to be reached.

The report adds that Sheffield United are convinced that Arsenal will have to consider lower offers for Balogun. His contract at the Emirates expires at the end of the season.

TBR View: Arsenal may want to gamble on keeping Balogun

It would be a blow for Arsenal to lose Balogun next summer. However, you could understand why the Gunners may choose to roll the dice in the hope that he may stay.

A £3 million offer is not exactly game-changing money for Mikel Arteta’s men. And it is not the kind of bid that they will rue not accepting if he leaves for nothing next summer.

Instead, Arsenal may as well hold onto Balogun in the hope that they can convince him to sign a new deal in the coming months.

Of course, the situation may change if a club returns with a much higher offer. But while £3 million is on the table, Arsenal lose little by digging their heels in.
