Report: Sheffield United close to signing Ben Osborn

According to the , Sheffield United’s purchase of Ben Osborn from Nottingham Forest is almost complete.

The Blades will be looking to sign the midfielder for a cut price fee due to his present contract situation. The 24-year-old only has one year left to run on his current deal at the City Ground. He has been a fine servant for Forest who have little choice but to cash in on him this summer, or else run the risk of losing him for free at the end of the season.

Osborn would be a fine addition at Bramall Lane. Chris Wilder is preparing his squad for their first Premier League campaign, following their promotion from the Championship last time out. In order to survive and thrive in the top flight, the Blades must add extra quality and strength in depth to their ranks this summer.

The arrival of Osborn would certainly bolster Wilder’s midfield options. What’s more, the Englishman is ready to make the step up to the Premier League. He has been a consistently strong performer for Forest, and enjoyed a fine campaign last season. He could go on to flourish in the top flight, and Sheffield United look set to hand him that opportunity this summer.
