Report shares update on Jack Ross’s Sunderland future as takeover nears

, Jack Ross is set to be given the chance to continue as Sunderland boss with the club expecting the takeover to go through this week.

After months of speculation, The Northern Echo reports that Stewart Donald is on the verge of selling a large chunk of his shares to MSD Partners. He is reportedly set to stay at the Stadium of Light and continue to hold a prominent role.

And it appears that Donald staying put has helped ensure that any potential question marks surrounding Ross’s future with the Black Cats do not linger for long.

that Ross is set to be kept on with the incoming owners not planning to make a change in the dugout.

Sunderland have certainly made an encouraging start to the new campaign. They have won six of their last seven games in all competitions and sit just two points off top spot in League One. Ross’s men also have a game in hand over league leaders Coventry City.

It would not be a surprise if Ross was not feeling any additional pressure, despite the change of ownership. Sunderland are one of the clubs that should be promotion favourites every year until they finally go up – they will likely be one of the favourites to get to the Premier League as soon as they step foot back in the Championship.

So Ross has always been under pressure to deliver. He may have a few questions about his future now that new owners are set to arrive. But the objective for the season is clearly not going to change.
