Report shares Red Bull Salzburg stance on Leeds target Brenden Aaronson

Leeds United have suffered a blow in their reported pursuit of Brenden Aaronson, that the chances of the midfielder moving in the January transfer window are now slim.

Leeds have been linked with Aaronson for a little while now. It does appear that Marcelo Bielsa’s side need greater depth and quality in the middle of the park.

The 21-year-old has looked a class act for Red Bull Salzburg during the first-half of the campaign. In total, he has 10 goals and 12 assists in 51 appearances in all competitions for the club.

He only arrived in Austria at the start of the calendar year. However, it seemed that he may be one of the latest Salzburg players to be on the move after impressing in the Austrian Bundesliga.

Certainly, a number of fans who have watched Aaronson suggested that a move to Elland Road may be ideal.

Unfortunately for Leeds, a January move for the USMNT international looks to be unlikely.

that Salzburg reaching the Champions League knockout stages has thrown a spanner in the works. The club seemingly want to keep their squad together as they prepare to face Bayern Munich in the last 16.

Of course, on paper, Matthias Jaissle’s men face a huge task trying to reach the quarter-final. But they will also be aware that someone such as Aaronson could see their value rocket should he impress over the two legs against the Bavarian giants.

Leeds will be wary of panicking when the January window opens, whether that be in terms of the players they bring in, or the fees they pay.

Salzburg reportedly wanting to keep Aaronson hints that the Whites will have to part with a considerable sum to convince them to change their mind.

And as things stand, it is hard to see Leeds breaking the bank for any signing next month.
