Report shares Liverpool transfer stance on Ben Davies

Ben Davies leaving Liverpool in the summer window now looks even more unlikely, that the defender has now been told that he is not available for transfer.

Davies may have appeared to be a candidate to move on in this window. The 25-year-old is yet to make his Reds debut following his surprising January switch.

Obviously, he was brought in amid all of the centre-back problems Jurgen Klopp had to endure last season.

However, the performances of Nat Phillips and Ozan Kabak meant that he was only needed as cover.

He has been linked with a move away in this window. It was recently suggested that Celtic and Bournemouth wanted Davies.

However, it was also reported that the defender wanted to stay on Merseyside. He is willing to fight for his chance.

And it seems that the club are singing from the same hymn sheet.

, Davies has been told that he is not available this summer. Rhys Williams is the most likely centre-back to leave, with a loan deal mooted.

Meanwhile, Phillips could be sold. Liverpool are open to that possibility.

Phillips should inspire Davies amid Liverpool stance on transfer

Admittedly, Davies faces a tough task. Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez will soon be back playing. Ibrahima Konate meanwhile, has only just joined.

But he can surely take inspiration from Phillips. He was outstanding at times late last season.

As noted by The Athletic, a group of Premier League clubs now want the £15 million-rated defender.

Few may have expected that heading into last season.

Hopefully, Liverpool endure nothing like the problems they had last season. But Phillips’s emergence should certainly motivate Davies now he is set to stay.
