Report shares decision Matteo Guendouzi made before Arsenal loan exit

It was Matteo Guendouzi who decided that his loan move away from Arsenal would not include a purchase option for Hertha Berlin, .

Guendouzi finally managed to seal a move from the Emirates on the final day of the international window. He had previously gone almost four months without playing for Mikel Arteta’s men.

Arsenal did not manage to permanently offload Guendouzi – who earns £40,000-a-week, . But the 21-year-old did secure the chance to move to the Bundesliga for the rest of the campaign.

The loan has put questions over his future to bed for the time-being. But it may be an issue that becomes a talking point once again once the season concludes.

And that is seemingly down to Guendouzi himself. , the midfielder chose for the deal to not include any clause that would have allowed Hertha to make the move permanent.

It is suggested that Guendouzi rejected such a clause being included to leave the door open for a potential move elsewhere.

So it would certainly appear his stance is not inspired by a desire to get back into Arteta’s plans.

Of course, a lot can change by next summer. Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny have previously been written off – for differing reasons – but are now back in the fold.

From the outside, a return to Arsenal’s first-team currently looks incredibly unlikely for Guendouzi. But perhaps the Gunners may ultimately be grateful that Guendouzi prevented Hertha from having the chance to make the deal permanent next year.
