Report shares Clement Lenglet stance on move amid Tottenham links

Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Clément Lenglet, that the defender wants to stay at Barcelona and is not considering a move in the January transfer window.

It was reported earlier this week that Spurs had reignited their interest in Lenglet. They had apparently attempted to bring the 26-year-old to North London during the summer.

However, the Frenchman rejected the chance to move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. But of course, much has changed since then, with Antonio Conte replacing Nuno Espírito Santo.

Unfortunately for Tottenham, it would appear that they are unlikely to have any more luck attempting to sign Lenglet this time around.

that he wants to stay at Camp Nou. He has featured a little more since Xavi replaced Ronald Koeman in Catalonia.

The summer may see the situation reassessed. But for now, it would appear that Tottenham signing Lenglet is unlikely.

Tottenham missing out on Clement Lenglet a blow for Antonio Conte

Tottenham have made a brilliant start to life under Conte. But it would certainly appear that new additions are needed if Spurs are going to reach the heights the Italian would like to take them to.

Signing Lenglet would have potentially been a very exciting piece of business. The £32 million man has a lot of potential. And he may have been ideal for the left-sided centre-back role.

On the other hand, perhaps a move in the summer – if it is possible – would work out better. Lenglet is a player who needs minutes to realise his full potential. So signing him in January may have been a bit of a gamble anyway.
