Report shares 17-goal sensation’s stance on summer transfer amid Arsenal links

Alexander Isak is open to staying at Real Sociedad next season despite interest from Arsenal, according to .

The Sweden international has developed strongly since moving to the Anoeta Stadium from Borussia Dortmund in 2019. He only scored games for the Bundesliga outfit before moving to Spain, where the 21-year-old has since struck appearances.

Isak netted 17 of his Sociedad strikes last season to help fire the San Sebastian outfit to fifth in the La Liga standings. It marked the Txuri-Urdin’s highest league finish since 2012/13, and saw the striker draw interest from Arsenal.

Reports by claim Arsenal are keeping tabs on Isak as Technical Director Edu and his recruitment team are big fans of the forward. And the Gunners could move for the 6 ft 3 gem if Mikel Arteta sells Alexandre Lacazette or Eddie Nketiah.

But Arsenal face a potential hurdle in that Borussia Dortmund hold a buyback option on Isak. Real Sociedad would likely also hold out for his €70million (£60m) release clause to be met.

However, Sport1 offer Arsenal a boost as they claim Dortmund are discussing selling their buyback clause for Isak. Real Sociedad are set to pay a mid-single-digit million sum for the German giants to wave their €30m (£26m) option.

The Txuri-Urdin also want to extend Isak’s contract beyond the 2024 expiration date in his current terms. And the striker also wants to continue his development at the Anoeta Stadium, which may position the club strongly to seal a deal.

TBR’s view: Arsenal given boost and blow over Isak

Sport1 have given Arsenal both a boost and a blow over their interest in Real Sociedad star Isak. Firstly, Borussia Dortmund selling their buyback clause saves the Gunners from negotiating with the German outfit for the striker.

It also takes away the threat of Isak heading back to the Westfalenstadion as a potential replacement for Erling Haaland. But Real Sociedad working to renew the Sweden sensation’s contract and the forward’s will to stay will be a blow.

Isak is clearly comfortable at the Anoeta Stadium and happy with how his career is progressing in Spain. He may not be interested in leaving the La Liga outfit just yet, either, even if Arsenal have placed his name highly on their attacking shortlist.
