Report: Sevilla monitoring Liverpool forward Takumi Minamino

Takumi Minamino looks set to be linked with a move away from Liverpool during the summer, that Sevilla are monitoring the forward.

Unsurprisingly, Minamino has struggled to force his way into Jurgen Klopp’s plans following his return from a loan spell at Southampton last season.

A January move was on the radar. Reports claimed that Leeds United were interested in the £20 million-rated Japan international as Marcelo Bielsa looked to bolster his ranks.

Liverpool certainly ensured that they would have the depth to let the 27-year-old leave. Luis Diaz arrived in one of the most exciting deals of the window.

However, Minamino ultimately stayed put. Jurgen Klopp recently hinted that he would have a role to play in the months ahead. He suggested that he is ‘getting better every game‘.

Certainly, clubs look set to monitor how involved Minamino will be over the remainder of the season.

that Minamino is wanted by Sevilla.

Sevilla have been a revelation this season. Julian Lopetegui’s men are in contention for the title in Spain. They are only four points adrift of league leaders Real Madrid.

Sevilla look set to be in next season’s Champions League. They are 11 points clear of Atletico Madrid in fifth. But goals have been an issue for Lopetegui’s men.

They are lowest scorers in the top five. Just two players have reached five league goals this term. Minamino meanwhile, has seven in all competitions.

Minamino certainly a contender to leave Liverpool this summer

Liverpool have so many attacking options. Diaz has taken little time to settle in, and Harvey Elliott has now returned to the fold after his injury.

Something may have to give. And Minamino is surely a contender to move on. He should be coming into his peak. And he may be reluctant to stick around much longer.

Sevilla could be ready to offer Champions League football next year. And they will hope that their title challenge this year can lead to better things.

Liverpool are surely unlikely to stand in his way if a good offer comes in.
