Report: Serge Aurier in talks to terminate Tottenham deal
Serge Aurier is in talks with Tottenham over terminating his contract, in order to make the Ivorian a free agent.
Aurier, 28, is now the club’s fourth-choice centre-back after Spurs completed a deal to sign Emerson Royal from Barcelona for a fee of £26m.
Japhet Tanganga has started the season in superb form for the North London club, while Matt Doherty remains at the club under Nuno.
Of course, Doherty only joined in the summer of 2020 and would be a pricey player to release. Aurier, on the other hand, is relatively cheap.
That is because his current deal ends in less than 12 months – meaning Spurs have little left to pay. Aurier could now end up a free agent.

Aurier in Tottenham talks: Terminating contract makes sense
Aurier has little other option. The Ivory Coast skipper is out of contract anyway next summer, and he has almost zero no chance of game time.
So, in order to boost his chances of finding a new club – it makes sense for Aurier to go down the route of cancelling his current Spurs deal.
On a free, he is an attractive proposition. But while clubs would have to negotiate with Daniel Levy and match his Spurs wages, he is a tricky buy.
Moving to terminate his deal, coming to an agreement over a pay packet, and looking for pastures new. It is a sensible option for Spurs and Aurier.
, Aurier is currently earning £70,000 a week at Spurs.
