Report: Senior figures at PL club now think ‘unbelievable’ player is about to sign for Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with Adama Traore over the past few weeks.

And on Friday, reports emerged claiming Spurs are closing in on the Wolves star.

According to , Traore looks likely to depart Molineux in the January transfer window.

Wolves reportedly rejected a bid of £15 million from Spurs earlier this week.

However, it’s thought their asking price is around £20million.

With the two clubs not far apart, there’s an expectation among senior figures at Wolves that an agreement will be reached, added the report.

Meanwhile, claims that Tottenham and Wolves held fresh talks on Friday.

Spurs are increasingly confident that they’ll succeed in signing Traore and are preparing a new bid, added the report.

Traore has been unable to agree a new Wolves contract, despite several meetings with the Molineux club.

As his deal expires in June 2023, the January window is one of his club’s last chances to sell for a decent fee.

Spurs have reportedly identified the Spain international as a priority signing in this transfer window.

Antonio Conte is apparently keen to deploy him as a wing-back as he puts his own stamp on the club.

“I made evaluations about the squad but I have spoken with the club and I hope the club will listen to me,” the Spurs boss said on Friday.

Bruno Lage, meanwhile, acknowledged that Traore’s future was out of his hands.

“The club talk with him and he talks with them and they will decide the future,” the Wanderers boss said.

“I’m happy with him, it’s the only thing I can say. He’s focused, he’s ready.”
