Report: Second-place European club reject signing Tottenham ace; £17m fee had been agreed

PSG have reportedly turned down the chance to sign Spurs defender Serge Aurier.

, the management of the Ligue 1 giants have rejected the idea of re-signing the Ivorian. The defender last month that he wants to leave the club this summer.

Aurier claimed he had reached the end of his time with the north London club after nearly four years with the Premier League side.

A return to Pairs is off the table

The defender was signed in 2017 to replace Kyle Walker. However, his spell in England has not been too successful with Aurier unable to win over Spurs supporters onto his side as well as not playing consistent enough.

A return to PSG looked likely, though. As reported by Rudy Galetti , a €20m (£17m) fee had been agreed between the second-place Ligue 1 side and Tottenham.

However, this deal no longer looks like it is taking place.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are also chasing Inter Milan defender Achraf Hakimi. And as , PSG are seemingly leading the race for the Moroccan international ahead of Chelsea.

Spurs need to ensure Aurier is sold this summer

With Spurs open to selling and Aurier keen on a move, the Ivorian’s time in north London looks well and truly up.

The 28-year-old defender should be one of the first players out of the exit door this summer for Spurs, and PSG seemingly pulling out of a deal for the defender, a new suitor will have to be found for the former Toulouse star.

The likes of AC Milan and, surprisingly, Real Madrid have been linked with the defender over the past few weeks. But with Spurs keen to sell, more clubs could emerge as potential buyers over the coming weeks with PSG now out of the race for Aurier.
