Report: Ryan Sessegnon a doubt for Spurs’ opening PL game due to injury

Ryan Sessegnon is a doubt to be fit for Spurs’ opening game of the new Premier League season as he looks to recover from a minor hamstring injury, .

Sessegnon is yet to feature for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in pre-season. And Football London reports that is due to a problem sustained three weeks ago.

However, he is now back in light training. that he is set to be back in full training in the next seven to 10 days.

But that does leave Nuno with a problem. According to the report, it is ‘touch and go’ whether he will be ready for opening day of the new campaign.

Of course, Spurs fans would be forgiven for worrying what they may mean for a 21-year-old who simply has not had a break since arriving at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium .

But the report notes that Sessegnon has held positive talks with Nuno about his role. The Portuguese is a big fan of the youngster having attempted to sign him for Wolves.

Sessegnon injury unlikely to disrupt Nuno’s plans for Manchester City too much

It is excellent news that Sessegnon is making his way back from injury. It looks to be imperative that he kicks on this season.

However, it is probably fair to say that Nuno’s plans for that opening day clash with Manchester City have probably not been disrupted too much.

Both Ben Davies and Sergio Reguilon were involved for Spurs on Wednesday. And the onus looks set to be on Sessegnon to wrestle a spot off the pair.

His chances will come. But the visit of Manchester City in mid-August may perhaps come too soon – whether he is injured or not.
