Alex Runarsson is hopeful of competing for a place in the Arsenal squad next season, .
Runarsson has, so far, proved to be a hugely disappointing signing.

In truth, he always looked to have a nearly impossible task of impressing in the wake of Emi Martinez’s departure.
But the 26-year-old certainly seemed to struggle. He made a number of mistakes before the turn of the year.

In fact, his most recent start for the club came back in December. Mat Ryan arrived on loan in January.
that Arsenal are pursuing deals for both Andre Onana and Ryan this summer. It is noted that Onana is seen as a potential long-term successor to Bernd Leno.
Of course, should Arsenal bolster their goalkeeping ranks, Runarsson may find himself even further down the pecking order.
So it is little surprise that Football London is reporting that the Iceland international is available in this window.
However, what may be a surprise to some is that Runarsson is reportedly hopeful that he can compete for a spot in the squad next season.
Arsenal would surely be better off promoting youngster to squad over Runarsson
Unfortunately, Runarsson’s move to North London has not worked out for any party.
It would arguably be best for all therefore, if a move away could be agreed over the coming months.
Arsenal would surely be better off using an academy prospect as their third choice.
Runarsson meanwhile, would surely rather move to a club where he is likely to play.
As things stand, it is difficult to imagine him playing for Arsenal again.
But judging by the latest reports, that does not mean that the 2020 signing is ready to throw in the towel and give up on proving a point with the Gunners.
