Report: ‘Really good manager’ expresses interest in Everton job

Slaven Bilic is interested in the Everton manager’s job and has put himself forward for the role with Rafa Benitez seemingly on the brink at Goodison Park, .

The Toffees suffered a hugely disappointing defeat to Norwich on Saturday. They are now into double figures for league defeats this term. And they find themselves just six points above the bottom three.

that a decision on Benitez has already been made. It has been suggested that the club have agreed to part ways with the Spaniard.

Of course, it would please many if Benitez has indeed left his post. His Liverpool connections meant that he was always a controversial choice to succeed Carlo Ancelotti.

It appears that some have wasted little time to put their name forward. 90min claims that Bilic is keen to take over. And he has apparently already made it clear that he wishes to be considered.

Slaven Bilic not a manager who will capture the imagination of Everton supporters

Bilic is currently out of work after a spell in China. He previously enjoyed some success in England with West Ham and West Brom. And of course, he spent two seasons at Goodison Park as a player.

Former Everton midfielder Gareth Barry labelled Bilic a ‘‘. He also suggested that Bilic had the ability to make the hairs on the backs of necks stand up when delivering team talks.

However, both of Bilic’s managerial spells in England ended in disappointing fashion. Both the Hammers and Baggies found themselves in relegation danger when he left. The latter, obviously, ended the season in the bottom three after Sam Allardyce was unable to turn their fortunes around.

And in truth, Bilic getting the Everton job is unlikely to be an appointment that captures the imagination.

Bilic’s stock is not high. Everton have struggled to find the right man for a long time. They surely need to make an exciting appointment. And they need a young manager who has a clear identity.

You could understand if some Everton fans felt that Bilic did not tick the right boxes.
