Report: Real Madrid want Serge Aurier from Spurs

Real Madrid are interested in signing Serge Aurier, that the Spurs star has spoken to Raphael Varane about a potential move.

Aurier’s future in North London looks to be uncertain. His last handful of appearances for Tottenham have arguably summed up his time in the capital quite nicely.

He made a costly error in the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City. And Leeds ensured that he had a torrid time at Elland Road at the weekend.

But in between those games, Aurier looked outstanding as Spurs beat Sheffield United. The 28-year-old provided two assists.

that Spurs are open to selling the defender for around £10.4 million (€12 million).

The report notes that Aurier has been discussing a return to Paris Saint-Germain for months. But Mauricio Pochettino’s side are not the only interested party.

According to Foot Mercato, Real Madrid are also keen as they look for cover for Dani Carvajal. And interestingly, it is claimed that Aurier has spoken at length with former Lens teammate Varane about a potential switch to Los Blancos.

TBR View: Spurs should welcome additional interest in Aurier

There are times when you could completely understand why PSG or Real may want Aurier. However, Spurs must resist the temptation to hold onto the Ivorian this summer.

In fact, they should welcome the additional interest. They are not asking for a lot of money, but the greater interest may allow them to bump the price up further.

If Real are willing to bid for Aurier – who earns £70,000-a-week, – this summer, Tottenham should look at it as an opportunity to make as much as possible from a player who can be a liability.
