Report: Real Madrid could scupper Liverpool hopes of landing Ferran Torres

Real Madrid could now look to move ahead of Liverpool in the hunt to sign Ferran Torres.

The Spanish youngster is one of Europe’s hottest properties after an excellent campaign for Valencia.

The 20-year-old has been a mainstay in the La Liga side as they look to challenge for the Champions League spots.

However, that form has attracted plenty of attention. Indeed, it has been  Liverpool are interested in landing the youngster this summer.

A stated that Torres has a release clause in his contract of around £87m. But it was also claimed in that same report that Valencia may accept around half that sum.

With Real Madrid now interested too, Liverpool face a fight on their hands. Torres has had a hand in 13 goals this season for the Mestalla outfit and could well be the subject of a bidding war this summer.

What a decision to have to make if you’re a 20-year-old footballer. Choosing one of Real Madrid or Liverpool at the moment is like choosing between two of the finest wines in the world.

Torres seemingly has the world at his feet. A lot of Spanish players love to play for Real Madrid. However, Liverpool have had success with Spaniards previously.

Namesake, Fernando Torres, and Xabi Alonso, the two most notable Anfield successes.

At around £50m it looks to be a deal worth pursuing for Liverpool. The club needs to keep adding players.

The likes of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane won’t be around forever. Therefore, swooping in now for someone like Torres makes big sense.
