Report: Rangers will have to cough up £400k to sign Motherwell starlet Jake Hastie

Motherwell chief executive Alan Burrows has warned that Rangers target Jake Hastie will cost £400,00 in compensation, .

Rangers have been strongly linked with Hastie for a while with reports last month reporting that they were close to signing him on a four-year deal ().

Hastie has been in sensational form for Motherwell since returning from his loan spell at Alloa Athletic in January.

The young winger scored four goals in 23 games for Alloa but has already eclipsed that tally for Motherwell since his return.

Hastie has netted seven goals in 13 matches since his return to Fir Park. And Motherwell rate their academy starlet very highly.

But with his contract expiring this summer, Motherwell face a major battle convincing the 20-year-old to stay with so many other options on the table.

Rangers appear to be in pole position to complete this signing and Burrows has told them to expect to cough up £400,000.

Motherwell will be owed compensation and the case goes to a tribunal if the two clubs cannot come to an out-of-court settlement.

Burrows has made it clear that he wants nearly half-a-million pounds for the Scotland under-21 starlet who has the potential to become a top player.
