Report: Rangers striker Kemar Roofe wanted on loan by Derby County

Rangers striker Kemar Roofe could be offered the chance to leave Ibrox in a surprise loan move this summer, according to a report from the (17/7; page 74).

Roofe has proved to be a very decent signing for the Gers. He scored 16 goals in all competitions for the Light Blues last season. Meanwhile, he has 34 in 72 since his arrival in 2019.

The 29-year-old has probably not quite been able to cement his spot in the side in the way he would like. However, it would be a huge shock if he completed the move being mentioned this morning.

According to the (17/7; page 74), Roofe is wanted by Derby County. And the League One side are weighing up a bid to take the forward on loan for the season.

Rangers surely will not consider letting Kemar Roofe now join Derby County on loan this summer

The Rams are under new ownership. And they have wasted little time bolstering their ranks with a number of really smart signings.

The likes of Conor Hourihane and David McGoldrick should be superb in the third tier. However, surely there is little chance of Roofe joining them on loan next season.

Rangers spent a sizeable sum bringing him to Ibrox two years ago, that the fee was around £4 million.

. So this summer surely represents the final opportunity for Rangers to receive a significant amount for Roofe if they cash in.

Perhaps he will not be in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s plans for the coming campaign. And he has struggled with injury at various points.

But he is a potential ‘‘, so loaning him out surely makes little sense. Meanwhile, you have to question whether a move from the Europa League finalists to League One would appeal to Roofe.
