that Rangers are set to complete the loan-to-buy signing of Ianis Hagi from Belgian side KRC Genk, with the player travelling to Glasgow to undergo a medical.
Hagi, 21, is the son of Romania legend Gheorge Hagi, who is considered one of the best wide players in history – having played for Real Madrid, Barcelona and boasts 124 caps for his country. Ianis is showing plenty of potential, too, but as a number 10.
Coming through his father’s academy, Ianis joined Romanian side Viitorul and after breaking into the team he joined Fiorentina, aged just 17. But after just two senior outings, he rejoined Viitorul. In the summer, he moved to Belgium with Genk.
He has impressed for Genk, despite starting just seven of his 19 appearances. He played in the Champions League five times, even facing Liverpool. Hagi has scored three goals and created four assists.
The report claims Hagi will join Rangers on loan until the end of the season, with Gerrard’s side including the option to sign Hagi on a permanent basis at the end of the season. He is due in Glasgow on Thursday for a medical.

TBR’s view – Hagi has huge potential, but needs stage to show it
So far for Hagi, he has not been given the regular game time he requires to show what he is all about. The odd start here and there at Genk has seen him impress but in the big Champions League games – he was only a substitute in four of his games.
Able to play out wide or in attacking midfield, Hagi could mirror the likes of Joe Aribo and Scott Arfield’s current position in the team which sees Gerrard use both players in central midfield or on the right flank. He could be a top, top signing.
