Rangers may have only just handed a debut to a central midfielder signed during the summer, , Steven Gerrard is keen to strengthen his options in the middle of the park further in January.
The Gers look particularly strong in that position – particularly following the arrival of Bongani Zungu.

that they are also interested in bringing Kenny McLean to Ibrox in the winter.
It has been reported that they could offer to pay a fee in instalments or make a loan bid that includes an obligation to buy.

The Scottish Sun notes that Gerrard has been monitoring the 28-year-old’s situation at Norwich. And it is hoped that the chance to move to Rangers could appeal to the Scotland international.
TBR View: Norwich unlikely to let McLean go
McLean has not been a regular starter at Carrow Road this season. So perhaps, that may boost Rangers’s hopes of completing a deal.
However, Norwich are surely not going to make it easy for the Light Blues. The Canaries did a superb job of holding onto their best players over the summer.
It therefore, seems tough to imagine that Rangers’s offers will appeal to Daniel Farke’s side too much. Of course, McLean could boost the chances of a sealing a move if he makes it clear that he would like to go.
But he has still made four league starts this term. And securing a regular spot in Rangers’s midfield is hardly a formality either. He also only signed a new contract in September (via )
So there look to be plenty of hurdles to clear if Gerrard does want McLean at Ibrox.
