Report: Rangers looking to offload five out-of-favour players

that Steven Gerrard is looking to offload five out-of-favour Rangers players this summer, who cost the club a combined £4.5million.

Gerrard wants rid of midfielders Graham Dorrans and Jason Holt, the latter of whom spent time on loan at Joey Barton’s Fleetwood Town last season. Eros Grezda is said to have no future at Ibrox, despite his big-money move.

Joe Dodoo went to Blackpool on loan last season and the attacker is nowhere near the first team. He is also expected to leave this summer, while Gerrard is willing to loan Jamie Murphy out following his long-term injury.

Dorrans cost Rangers £1.5million () under Pedro Caixinha to sign him from Norwich, while Grezda cost £2million (). Murphy’s loan from Brighton was made permanent for £1million ().

Dodoo and Holt were both signed for nominal, development fees meaning the Gers have splashed out £4.5million on these players – but are now willing to wave goodbye to the quintet.

TBR’s view – Dorrans unlucky, Murphy has a future at Rangers

But for Grezda, Holt and Dodoo, their time at Rangers has surely come to an end if the Gers can engineer a permanent move for the attacking trio.

Dorrans, though, has been unlucky during his time at Rangers after an excellent start in which he scored a handful of goals following his move from Norwich under Caixinha. Injury has prevented the midfielder from impressing.

Murphy certainly has a future at Ibrox but the winger has fallen down the pecking order, with the signings of Jordan Jones, Greg Stewart and Sheyi Ojo now considered first choice. Ryan Kent could also join the club.
