Report: Rangers eye Juninho Bacuna from Huddersfield Town

Rangers are trying to sign Huddersfield Town midfielder Juninho Bacuna and have seen an initial approach rejected by the Terriers,

The Gers want to add the 23-year-old on an initial loan which could be made permanent at the end of the current campaign.

Bacuna signed for Huddersfield from Groningen in 2018 and has made 68 appearances for the club.

He played 21 times in the Premier League and was a mainstay in the team during the club’s 2019/20 Championship campaign.

Gers boss Steven Gerrard is keen to sign an attacking midfielder before the midnight deadline and attentions have turned to Bacuna.

The player possesses superb versatility having played a number of games in various midfield positions, both through the middle and out wide.

Bacuna wouldn’t need any time to get up to scratch in Scotland having started all five games under Carlos Corberan this season.

Huddersfield haven’t done a great deal of incoming business and offloading someone like Bacuna might give them some room for manoeuvre.

Rangers are currently top of the Scottish Premiership and face fierce rivals Celtic after the international break.

The challenge for the Light Blues this season is to try and stop Celtic claiming their tenth league title in succession.

Gerrard will want to ensure he is well stocked and Bacuna might prove to be a decent addition to the squad.

Huddersfield have rejected the first advances but if the player has a desire to head to Scotland, they could be powerless.

Bacuna is a component performer and alongside his versatility, he is good on the ball, gets stuck in and possesses an admirable work rate.
