Rangers are reportedly one of the clubs interested in trying to sign Jacob Murphy from Premier League side Newcastle United.
, Rangers have declared their interest in the 26-year-old.
It is explained that English clubs Burnley, Southampton and Watford are also keen on his signature, with the latter tipped to make a £6millions swoop this summer.
The report explains that Newcastle will open talks though with the player over a potential new deal as he enters the last year of his contract, and they want him to commit his future at St James’ Park.
London-born speedster Murphy is someone that has been an attacker during most of his career so far, and is dangerous as a right-winger.
However, he’s nailed down a spot in Newcastle’s XI in the last few games as a right-back.
The £25,000-a-week () English ace is finding real joy in the full-back position, as it still allows him to make overlapping runs forward to show off his crossing.

TBR’s View:
It’s been a stop-start season for Murphy at Newcastle, where he’s struggled to make himself a favourite under manager Steve Bruce. Fortunately, he is now showing off his talent regularly.
There is no doubt he’s someone that still has the potential to achieve much more in his career, and he’s got the ability to be a top player if he finds consistency.
Rangers need to add a few extra quality players to their squad ahead of next season to try retain the league crown, but it looks like Murphy may be a non-starter given Newcastle’s plans to try keep him.
