Report: Rangers and Celtic eye Tottenham player – and permanent exit cannot be ruled out

Rangers are interested in bringing Dilan Markanday to Ibrox, , but face a battle with their Scottish Premiership rivals for the Tottenham Hotspur youngster.

Markanday looks to be one of the most exciting prospects looking to make the grade with Spurs. He has scored 11 goals in 12 Premier League 2 games this season.

He also made his first-team debut for Tottenham this term. But Antonio Conte’s men face a potential problem with his contract.

that Markanday’s deal expires in the summer. Ideally, Tottenham would like to hand him an extension and loan him out to gain experience.

However, the report claims that a permanent exit cannot be ruled out. And what will not help is that Markanday has a raft of clubs chasing his signature.

The London Evening Standard reports that Rangers and Celtic both want the 20-year-old. They are joined by a host of Championship sides in England.

It is not clear what kind of deal Rangers and Celtic would prefer to pursue.

But a loan would perhaps put the Hoops in a stronger position given that Ange Postecoglou’s men have already signed Joe Hart and Cameron Carter-Vickers from Tottenham this season.

Markanday looks to be in a fantastic position. The report names three second tier sides who also want the forward.

He can wait and see what kind of assurances Spurs are able to offer. And if he does not like the answer, it would appear that there is a very good chance that at least one of his admirers will be prepared to try and sign him permanently.

Clubs such as Rangers and Celtic have managed to lure some very talented young players to Ibrox and Parkhead respectively in recent years.

That may not make Spurs’ job of tying him down any easier.
