Report: Radrizzani knows Leeds player could be tempted to join Liverpool

Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani is fully aware that Kalvin Phillips could be tempted to join Liverpool – and is taking action.

Phillips, 25, is a fan favourite at Elland Road – clocking up 220 games for his hometown club. Leeds born and bred, he is arguably the club’s best player.

While many would suggest it is Raphinha, Phillips is more effective. Last season, he was missing for nine Premier League games – Leeds losing seven.

Following his exploits for England at Euro 2020, Phillips is on the radar of some of Europe’s biggest clubs. Liverpool are among those.

The report states that Liverpool – and bitter rivals Manchester United – are keen on the £60m-rated star. But that Leeds are in talks over a new deal.

The Star also reports Radrizzani’s stance. He is said to be well aware that Phillips could be tempted to go – and is doing everything he can to keep him.

Radrizzani on Phillips: Can Leeds keep Liverpool clutches away?

Ultimately, it comes down to whether Leeds can match the ambitions of Phillips. He is a player that is of at least, Europa League quality.

There is no doubt he is good enough to play for one of England’s clubs in the Champions League, when he is at his best. Can Leeds match that?

Realistically, Leeds will have to keep him satisfied financially for now – and then look to qualify for at least the Europa League in next couple of years.

It will be difficult for Leeds to keep him if Liverpool are certainly keen – but tying him down to a new deal, will certainly help the Yorkshire outfit.
