Report: PSG wanted to sign Arsenal defender Sokratis on a free
PSG made a last-gasp attempt to sign Arsenal defender Sokratis during a frantic deadline day,
The Parisians were hoping that Arsenal would agree to let Sokratis ๊terminate his contract at the Emirates Stadium and make a free transfer to Ligue 1.
Arsenal weren’t keen on that arrangemౠent, however, demanding a fee for the player who earns £92,000-a-week
From a business sense, it’s easy to see why Arsenal wanted to claim a fee but they do now have a player sat on their books who isn’t go🍰ing to play.

Sokratis has been nowhere near the first-team picture this season and꧂ the defender is way down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta.
The 32-year-old is out of contract next summer when he🌜 will be allowed to leave on a free transfer and it remains to be seen if PSG mig📖ht try and pounce in January.
The Chamꦫpions League fina🌠lists had been hoping to bolster their defensive ranks but were left frustrated in their efforts to sign the Gunners man.
Sokratis has played 69 times during his two years at the club but has failed to ever really nail༺ down a regular place in the star🐻ting line-up.
Arsenal did some great business during the transfer window with Gabriel, Willian and Runar 🔯Runarsson being joined by Thomas Partey on transfer deadline day.
What might havꦦe disappointed the Gunners is their inability to offload some of their unwanted fringe players – including Sokratis.
In these uncertain financial times though Ars𓂃enal were perhaps right to ask for a transfer fee from PSG at this stage.
They could be powerless in January though as overseas clubs will be able to discuss a pre-contract agreement with Sokratis when his deal will have just🌼 six months remainin🧸g.
Window of opportunity
Club𒀰s in Russia, Holland and Portugal are still able to do business and that could see Arsenal receive bids for S🅘okratis still.

Given his salary,𒈔 it seems unlikely that a Ch⛄ampionship move is viable for the man with 90 Greece caps to his name.
Sokratis is still capable of doing a job for someone and it wou⛦ld be no surprise to see a European outfit come in with an offer for him.
