Report: Premiership club makes improved offer for Rangers ‘potential future captain’
Glasgow Rangers academy graduate Ross McCrorie looks set to leave Ibrox, with a report in the claiming one of his suitors has come back with an improved offer.
The 22-year-old spent the entire 2019-20 campaign away from Ibrox with English side Portsmouth and hasn’t featured in the Gers’ first three Scottish Premiership games of the season.
Earlier this week, Steven Gerrard told that Rangers were open to offers for McCrorie, as well as stating that he won’t be going out on loan again.
It was reported by the earlier in the month that Hibernian were leading the race to sign the Ibrox academy graduate.
According to the , McCrorie’s move to Edinburgh appeared to be off after Jack Ross’ men seemed to be priced out of a switch.
However, the outlet then claims that Hibs have returned to the table with an improved offer, with Ross seemingly “desperate” to land the versatile player, and Rangers are considering it.
In addition, McCrorie is reportedly keen on a move given his limited chances of nailing down a first-team place at Ibrox.

McCrorie was tipped for a great Rangers future by Gerrard just over 18 months ago, the boss telling a that his player “has a great future here and is a potential future captain”.
However, the 22-year-old now looks very much surplus to requirements at Ibrox and, with a potential loan switch no longer on the cards, it’s increasingly likely that his next move will see him come off the Gers books.
McCrorie is without a doubt a talented player but, if he’s still not managed to break into the first team at this stage, then perhaps the best step is for him to move on and get first-team football elsewhere.
