Tottenham Hotspur and Serge Aurier decided to go their separate ways this summer after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract at the club. ()

The Ivorian spent four years in North London and he had his ups and downs. It was more than clear that he wouldn’t be a regular under Nuno Espirito Santo this season, which forced him to consider leaving.

Spurs were happy to tear up Aurier’s contract and the 28-year-old was delighted to walk away as well. Tottenham fans weren’t too bothered either, especially after Fabio Paratici replaced him with Emerson Royal.

A few weeks have passed since Aurier’s departure and Spurs fans haven’t really remembered him in that period. However, every Tottenham fan’s attention will be piqued if a latest report from Spain is to be believed.

Real Madrid are interested in Serge Aurier

, as relayed by , have revealed today that Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid could turn to Aurier as an option to provide cover for Dani Carvajal, whose injury woes have continued.

The Spaniard missed a huge chunk of last season due to a ligament injury. He recovered over the course of the summer and Real Madrid fans were hoping to see him return to his best. Sadly, he has been sidelined again.

Alvaro Odriozola left the Spanish capital for Fiorentina in the summer, which has left the Galacticos with just Carvajal as the club’s natural right-back option. His injury woes have forced Real Madrid to turn to the free-agent market, and Aurier is arguably the best available option out there.

The Ivorian is still a decent player for a side that dominates most games. His defensive frailties will be a lot less evident in La Liga than they were in the Premier League, which makes him a satisfactory emergency option for Ancelotti for the remainder of the season.

Spurs fans, however, will be shocked if Aurier somehow pulls off this move. A player who was deemed surplus to requirements at Tottenham securing a move to mighty Real Madrid is crazy to even think of. However, it could really happen in the coming days.
