Report: PL clubs enquire about loan for 24-year-old Arsenal player

A number of Premier League clubs have made a last-ditch attempt to sign Ainsley Maitland-Niles on loan from Arsenal, that Roma remains his preferred option ahead of the January transfer window.

Maitland-Niles looks to be closing in on a move away from the Emirates. It was reported this week that he had said yes to joining Roma on an initial loan deal.

The terms would potentially leave the door open to a permanent move to the Italian capital in the summer. And it seemed that Maitland-Niles was ready to complete the switch to Jose Mourinho’s side.

However, there appeared to be the potential for a late twist in the tale. that a number of Premier League sides have made late enquiries about his availability.

But those sides keen for the 24-year-old to stay in England are set for disappointment. The report suggests that Roma remains Maitland-Niles’ first-choice.

He is set to be given a role in midfield. That is reportedly particularly appealing for the England international.

Arsenal may not mind Ainsley Maitland-Niles opting for Serie A over Premier League loan

Maitland-Niles has not had the easiest time at the Emirates. He has struggled to establish himself in the side. And it does appear to be best for all for the academy graduate to move on.

However, he also boasts a lot of ability. And he is a player capable of featuring in a couple of positions. So there is every chance that he could thrive elsewhere.

Loaning him out to a Serie A club therefore, could be a smart move. Should he do well beyond January, Arsenal will barely have to worry about coming up against him in the future.
