According to , newly-promoted Fulham have entered talks to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno this summer.

The German international joined the Gunners back in 2018 from Bayer Leverkusen. Until September last year, he was mostly Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper, but things quickly changed for Leno after three consecutive defeats in the first three games of the Premier League last season.

Mikel Arteta replaced Leno with Aaron Ramsdale and the Englishman has been absolutely incredible since. He barely put a foot wrong in goal and has proved to be a truly sensational signing.

As a result, Leno has had to sit on the bench more often than not, which is a shame as he’s a fantastic goalkeeper in his own right. He could leave the Emirates this summer.

Fulham want to sign Bernd Leno from Arsenal

Leno will enter the final year of his contract next month and Arsenal are likely to move him on this summer to avoid losing him for free this time next year.

Fulham, who achieved promotion to the Premier League at the end of last season, are in search of a new man between the sticks, and the report claims Leno is their number one choice.

During their promotion campaign in the Championship, Marek Rodak and Paulo Gazzaniga shared goalkeeping duties for the Lilywhites, but the Premier League is a completely different level, and Fulham are right to target a top-quality goalkeeper.

The report further claims that Leno would prefer to stay in London this summer, which suggests that a deal could well happen.

Bernd Leno is a fantastic goalkeeper and Ramsdale’s sensational form last season does not change that fact.

The German has saved Arsenal on numerous occasions since he joined them from Bayer Leverkusen. He had to step in when Ramsdale was injured last season, and he showed his tremendous class in that game as well.

Mikel Arteta clearly does not fancy Leno anymore, but even the Arsenal boss has branded him as ‘magnificent‘.

If Fulham can get this deal over the line, it would be a sensational signing for them, and a move away from Arsenal for Leno this summer is the best thing for all parties involved.
