The Magpies have reportedly been in talks with the 28-year-old over a potential move to St James’ Park.
Newcastle are desperate to bolster their ranks as they look to survive in the Premier League this season.
But with the might of the Saudi PIF behind them, money is no object for the Magpies.
Indeed, that they’re reportedly pursuing another one of the top defenders in La Liga is testament to their financial might.
After securing a new right-back in Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid, Newcastle have now turned their focus to centre-back.
It looks as though Carlos is the man they want. And it appears the Magpies’ strategy is to open the proverbial money suitcase.
