Liverpool assistant boss Pep Lijnders has told Jurgen Klopp not to sell Ben Woodburn, .

Impressing in training

Woodburn burst on to the scene at Liverpool as a 16-year-old, when he became the club’s youngest ever goalscorer.

At that time he was widely expected to break into their first-team, but he has never quite made that step.

Woodburn has now been sent on a series of loan spells by Liverpool, and has only had mixed success.

But he trained with Liverpool in Austria this summer, and the attacker quickly caught the eye of the staff.

Woodburn is now credited with increasing the intensity of Liverpool’s training.

And Lijnders is said to have become a big admirer of the 21-year-old.

Loan to Hearts

Liverpool are now set to loan Woodburn out again to Hearts for six months.

However, Lijnders has apparently told Klopp that he should keep Woodburn around, as he sees plenty of potential in him.

If Woodburn can impress on his current loan spell, then there may just be hope that he could form part of Liverpool’s attack over the second half of the season.

But at his current age, time is running out for him now, even if he is gaining admirers at Anfield through his performances in training.
