Glasgow
, and joining the Ibrox side has come as a surprise to many this summer.
The deal for a player linked with Leeds earlier this summer has been valued at £2.5m, and was largely influenced by Matondo meeting Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

The pair met at a training camp in Portugal, with Matondo struck by how passionate van Bronckhorst was about developing young players at Rangers.
It’s hard to believe that is still only 21 years old, after he made his Wales debut in 2018.
The winger came on as a substitute against Albania before he had ever played a senior club match.
Rangers sign Matondo, he’ll have one eye on the World Cup
Matondo would have been disappointed not to be able to add to his 11 Wales caps at last summer’s European Championships, missing out on the squad altogether.
After an unsuccessful move to FC Schalke in 2019, and a loan move to Stoke City at the start of 2021 where he failed to make a significant impact, Matondo finally found his feet at Cercle Brugge last season.

The Welshman scored nine goals and provided two assists in Belgium, and this was enough to convince Rangers that Matondo was the right man to bring to Ibrox.
He now has four months to make his impact in Scotland, and convince national team manager Rob Page that he should be on the plane to Qatar.
