Parkinson has been promoted from the third tier on two occasions, while he famously led Bradford City to the League Cup final during his time at Valley Parade.
And with plenty of time left in the season and Sunderland just four points off the top two, you would imagine that any of the club’s reported targets would be more than capable of adding another promotion to their record this season should they get the job.
