Report: Patrick Schick turns down Newcastle move, wants to join Dortmund
that Newcastle United have been rejected by AC Milan striker Patrick Schick this summer, with the player preferring a move to Borussia Dortmund.
Schick, 23, struggled at Roma last season in the shadow of Edin Dzeko. The Czech Republic international found the back of the net just five times in just 32 appearances, completing 90 minutes on just two occasions.
Roma signed Schick from Sampdoria for a whopping £38.7million, but he has endured somewhat of a nightmare since his move. He has scored just eight goals in 58 appearances for Roma.
Steve Bruce claimed earlier in the window that he is happy with his options up front, after the club spent a whopping £40million club-record fee on Brazil international Joelinton. Dwight Gayle has returned from West Brom.
But the club did lose talisman Salomon Rondon, as well as Spanish striker Joselu this summer. Ayoze Perez, who is more naturally a number 10 or a winger, has joined Leicester City for £30million.
Despite being supposedly happy with his options up front, it appears Newcastle tried to bring Schick to Tyneside before Thursday’s 5pm deadline but the striker has rejected The Toon – with a move to Dortmund preferred.
